Thank you! Wow that made my day!! First Id like to say DO NOT listen to those people because what the fuck do they know? There actually were black pinups back in the day they just seemed to have been forgotten or swept under the rug I actually have a post full of them from the site Vintage Sleaze plus you can always look to Josephine Baker, Dorthy Dandridge and Billy Holiday for inspiration. I posted a couple girls who are African American and into pinups here and there are a couple sites on here that post mostly black pinups which I will list here; http://lascasartoris.tumblr.com/ http://bettychantel.tumblr.com/ http://dulltooldimbulb.tumblr.com/ http://dunesforbackyard.tumblr.com/ and Angelique Noire! XOXO Ashleeta —
Firstly big kiss to Ashleeta for including me in the line-up. Posting at lascasartoris.tumblr.com has been an education. I’ve always been interested in glamour and performance especially when it comes to women of colour. But in adding to this tumblr over the past six months its been astonishing how many great images are in archives and digital repositories all over the world that are simply hidden. Treacle at thelingerieaddict.tumblr.com also did a great round-up of Pin-ups of Color a while back. Wanted to add some tumblrs to awesome Ashleeta’s list, they mostly post vintage pictures (more blogs I like are here - hope to add more soon!): backtothefiveanddime.tumblr.com ieatmypancitwithrice.tumblr.com vintageblackglamour.tumblr.com All my love x Lasca

THANKS Ashleeta! I appreciate your work sharing my little essays! Those interested can see all ten parts with this link: AFRO-ANTICS on VINTAGE SLEAZE
A week or so ago I was in a group discussion about the existence of African American Pinups in the 1940-60s and many people claimed that they surely just did NOT exist. I having done my research prior to the argument knew that this wasn’t true just because they were rare does not mean that they did NOT exist. So with the help of the internet I bring you proof that there were in fact beautiful black pinups in the era. This post is dedicated to shegivesgoodface
